Pilates- A Modern Approach To Build Strength and Balance

Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century to help dancers and athletes transition back into training after injury with controlled movements, focusing on core strength and stability. It does share some of the benefits as yoga, like flexibility and mindful movement but Pilates has much more focus on building strength with a big focus on your core stability and postural alignment. There are different types of Pilates from Mat Pilates that can be performed anywhere using just a mat, to Reformer Pilates that use a type of equipment called a reformer machine, its like a bed frame platform with different springs to change the resistance levels.

The Main Physical Focus of Pilates

Pilates focuses on building a strong core which is commonly referred to as the “Powerhouse” which includes muscles of the
